Beth Cheong

Beth Cheong was born in Singapore in 1981.

She graduated with a Diploma in Interior Design from Raffles Lasalle and completed a certificate course in basic western art from the Nayang Academy of Fine Arts.

Cheong’s works are mostly inspired by her travels, little things that caught her eye, or even a paragraph from a novel. She is particularly fascinated with how the mood of the moment can change with a simple detail like the sound of the rain, and the scent of the morning sun. To Cheong, painting is a way of bringing a smile to another, a gentle reminder of how one used to see the world as a child.

Trained in commercial design but with a passion in fine art, Cheong straddles between the two frequently. She was the illustrator for local theatrical production “Don’t Forget to Say Goodbye” where her artworks were used as promotional collaterals as well as stage production. The musical was staged at The Esplanade in November 2011.
