The Last Kampung of Singapore - Lorong Buangkok

"The Last Kampung of Singapore - Lorong Buangkok" is Dr. Ho Kah Leong's most recent artistic documentation of a fast vanishing Singapore landscape. In a timeframe of 40 years, Singapore has made the leap from a third world developing country into a First World developed naton. In the process, the country's physical transformaton saw its once familiarrural landscape being substituted with the ubiquitous urban cityscape that we see today. Lorong Buangkok is the last kampung or village that is quintessential of yesterday's Singapore. Located in the Northeastern part of the island, Lorong Buangkok is situated near the scenic Sungai Punggol, a beautiful mangrove-linedd river. As the last sanctuary of rural Singapore. Dr. Ho attempts to capture the tranquility and serenity of Kampung lifestyle through his bold, expressive brush strokes and the skilled handing of light and shapes.
