Bizarre images abound in this unusual art exhibition, creating an intriguing panorama that is bursting with vivid energy and life. Within the familiarity of the art forms, there is yet a certain sense of strangeness that surrounds you. Why bizarre? All the participating artists come from different backgrounds, hold different views on art and are involved in different art forms. There are artists, movie directors, installation artists and curators, all contributing in different ways to their own industries. Here, however, there is a commonality. They are all expressing their different points of views through the same traditional art form of painting. It is through these different elements that give birth to creativity in paintings. Such experimental expression in art is certainly rare in the overly commercialised society and art market we are in today. There is a saying in the western modern arts domain, that behaviours of modern art can only be realized in paintings. As such, all the participating artists chose painting as the media to express their own unique views, creating a uniqueness that forms such a bizarre panorama. The Tembusu Art Gallery, with their forward-looking philosophy, art strategy and international outlook, has introduced these artists and their works into Singapore. This exhibition is also the gallery’s independent exhibition of works from contemporary artists in China. We hope that art lovers in Singapore will be able to immerse themselves in a bizarre panorama throughout their visit in the gallery.
